Dry Creek Art Fest

Mark your calendar Saturday Sept. 10 and Sunday Sept 11, 2011 for the fastest growing two-day art fest this side of the Mississippi – yes, the Dry Creek Art Fest. Named after the beautiful scenic Dry Creek which meanders around in this area, this juried Art Fest is a definite treat! Besides refreshments and live entertainment, Dry Creek Art Fest, located on Gary and Karen Sands’ farmstead at 2310 Robins Road, Hiawatha, Iowa, provides yet another chance in art-lovin’ Iowa to experience the fullness and passion of art.

Enhancing the total Dry Creek Art Fest ambiance is the surrounding Iowan farm landscape of fields and flowers. At the center of the grounds is the Sands’ beautifully renovated two-floor wooden barn, the perfect place to showcase the wide variety of unique artwork. The artwork includes old world fiber art, baskets, special gourds, natural soaps, paintings, and more.

Two watercolor artists back by popular demand,

Joan Cimaglia and Noma Lucas, will be displaying paintings of all sizes and shapes for any décor.

Last year Joan had also created huge gorgeous bouquets of both wild and tamed grasses

for home fall decorating.

What they are planning for this year’s event will be a surprise.

This year’s Art Fest also features Nathaniel Wyckoff and Kristen Stammeyer,

owners of “Transcend Art.” Located in Marion, Iowa, Nathaniel and Kristen,

as a team, create simply breathtaking works of art in glass.

Another Dry Creek artist is Sharon Poplawski, a spinner and weaver who works with Buffalo yarns and fibers. Her “Loom N Essence” offers all kinds of yarns and kits.
