“My advice: Go outside, to the fields, enjoy nature and the sunshine.

Go out and try to recapture happiness in yourself and in God.

Think of all the beauty that’s still left in and around you and be happy!“

                                                                                   Anne Frank

Teenager Anne Frank lived in a horrendous time of great fear and persecution. In 1933, because they were Jewish, Anne and her family left Nazi Germany and settled in Amsterdam. Then in 1942, to avoid arrest by German occupation forces, Anne, her family, and four others went into hiding in the sealed-off back rooms of an Amsterdam office building. However, in August 1944, their hiding place was discovered and they were arrested. Anne died in a German concentration camp. Her diary written in their hiding place was found after the war ended.

In it, Anne Frank wrote, “I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.”
