For those of us who await the Lord Jesus Christ, amidst all the evil that surrounds us,
the good news is Christ’s return is very imminent. In fact, the signs are shouting at us,
“Repent! The King is coming! Look up, for your redemption draws near!”
It is written in I Timothy 4: 1:
some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.”
Also written in II Timothy 4: 3-4:
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
The question is do we know the Holy Scriptures well enough to quote when we are tempted, in order to resist the devil? Let’s face it. We are not always going to have a Bible handy in order to quickly look things up. When we are troubled on every side, can we use God’s Word to supply peace inside us? When we are perplexed, what chases away the despair? Being persecuted, how do we know we are not forsaken? Struck down by circumstances, what is our defense? The answer is God’s Word!
God’s Word is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword! 3 It even can even divide the soul and the spirit of a being! God’s Word is AWESOME! God’s Word is truth!
We are living in the latter days. What should we be filling our souls and spirits with in these days? The devil is subtle. Slowly but surely, minds have been indoctrinated with senseless fantasy; make-believe nonsense offered by television, movies, and computer games.
The question is: do we know Scriptures well enough to quote instantly for assistance to fight evil? Do our children have this weapon of God within themselves to find help in times of trouble?
If we keep this knowledge in perspective,
how should we live out the rest of our lives here on earth?
