Jehovah-Shalom

Jehovah-Shalom means “Jehovah is our Peace.” Peace, how precious is that commodity in our world. The peace we are offered from the world is fragile. However, there is another peace offered: the ultimate peace. If we pause and listen, we might hear the sweetest voice ere known saying to us, ”Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14: 1

Jesus Christ says, ”Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14: 27

The peace that Christ Jesus offers us, amazingly, is the same peace He Himself possessed on earth. Christ emitted His peace calmly and openly throughout the gospels. How is this possible for us to have His peace? This peace stems from the unique Christian relationship resulting from the union of Christ and the believer, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1: 27

Thus a Christian has Christ’s peace within because Christ lives in him or in her. We have Christ’s peace, because we have Christ. The indwelling Christ is our peace. How awesome is that truth!

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding,

shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4: 7
