REJOICE!

“My soul doth magnify the Lord,

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.”

Luke 1: 46-47

To magnify the Lord means to exalt Him above all. On the second line, the verb “rejoice” has a deeper intensity than just feeling happy. Webster’s Dictionary defines rejoice as: to give joy to, to be glad, to feel joy or great delight. To rejoice in means to have or to possess. Rejoicing in God is based on the sacrifice of Christ, through whom we can now have a relationship with God the Father. Rejoicing is a vital part of the relationship with God.

It is written in Deuteronomy 12:12,

“And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God,
ye and your sons and your daughters…”

How does one rejoice before the LORD?

“Blessed be the LORD, because He hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength and He is the saving strength of His anointed. “
Psalm 28: 6-8

By rejoicing before the LORD, we show respect for Him, for His love, for His greatness and His goodness, for His majesty and His glory, for His power and His victory.

We, who rejoice, have accepted the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, as the sacrifice for our sins. In II Corinthians 5:21 it is written, “For God hath made Christ to be sin for us, He who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”

We rejoice because the shed blood of Christ offers us, besides salvation, justification, cleansing, eternal life, and more! Having received this free gift, it is easy to understand why we erupt with praises and thanks, and rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. I Peter 1: 8. Yes, it is indescribable joy, in which the body, soul, and spirit together rejoice!

We rejoice in the LORD, and then something phenomenal happens!

The LORD Himself rejoices over us!

This is worth repeating – the LORD Himself rejoices over US! We rejoice because we have Him, and He rejoices because He has us! It is a true relationship with the living God.
A live… real… absolutely true… relationship with the living GOD!

“…For the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good,
as He rejoiced over thy fathers:
if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God,
to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.” Deut 30: 9-10

What happens if God is not obeyed?

Deut 28: 62-63

Because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. And it shall come to pass that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you and to bring you to nought…”

Christ has said in John 14:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

“He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest (reveal) Myself to him.”

“If a man love Me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode (home) with him.“

To live with God and His love for eternity! Now that calls for real rejoicing!

Hallelujah! Praise His Name forever more!

“And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God,

ye and your sons and your daughters…”

Deut. 12: 12
