The Homestead Woman

Winter reveals beauty to the watchful eye.

“The Homestead Woman” artwork is nestled in snowdrifts of blues amongst the pines. The winter sun is just able to peek through the trees accenting both the farmer and the red blanket she carries. In the near distance the barnyard sunbathes in iridescent yellows, oranges, browns, and baby blues, as the earth springs onto a new day.

On her way back from the barn, the farmer’s footprints create new patterns in the snow.
What is in the basket that the farmer is toting? A loving soul who previewed my work said he thinks that it contains some wee kittens, which need a warm spot near the old stove. Maybe he’s right.

I’ll never tell.
