“Exaggerate the color by adding more of it.”
Vincent Van Gogh
This Van Gogh quote reminded me of my beginner’s class in watercolors.
The new students were afraid to use their paint. Coupled with the cost of paint, brushes, and watercolor paper, the fear of making a mistake with these supplies made them paint very gingerly. Their attempts, soft and timid, lacked any color, since most of the paint they used was watered-down to an extreme. Some, alas, never got out of this mode.
Luckily, others forged ahead on the growth scale becoming more and more bold. Like the Van Gogh quote, they learned to add more color! Any watercolor artist knows that this is particularly essential since watercolors dry lighter than the original color applied.
WOW! Very impressive quote!
Be Bold! Add more color!
