“Sacrifice everything in painting for unity.”
Ed Whitney
Unity is one of the principles of art design or organization. While it is true that repetition, harmony, balance, and the four other principles of art design are important, it is unity that has the greatest capacity to entice, to provoke, to involve, or to inspire the viewer. Unity involves the total effect of a work of art.
Unity is a complex oneness from a union of parts
designed to interpret the utterances from the artist’s soul.
