Essence of Winter

In Marion, we have “Squaw Creek Park,” which has a loveliness that fascinates any nature lover in all seasons. It was during a winter hike in this park that strong colors attracted my attention into the forest. To my delight, I witnessed patterns created by the trees’ shadows, embellished by vivid lines of various blue hues that followed the curves of the slopes. The line elements of the trees began to disintegrate, as the whole environment became one on the snow canvas. My eyes and my heart were frozen to its beauty. Because of the pummeling by the robust winter wind, I realized that very few people would venture out and behold what I was seeing right at this very moment. What a pity. So I painted it.
