Adonai

Adonai means “The LORD.” He is the Master and Authority.
The name Adonai reveals God’s sovereignty.
How does Jesus Christ relate to this name?

Jesus Christ is our Master.

In John 13: 13, it is written, Jesus said, ”Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.” “Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me.” (John 14: 11)

Acts 17: 28 says that in Christ, we live and move and have our being. And yet, there is more. Christ is the only way to God the Father. “Jesus saith unto him,’ I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.’ “ (John 14: 6)

“Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.“
(John 14: 19-20)

What authority does Jesus Christ have?

In Matthew 28: 18-20, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.“

On the basis of Christ’s authority and power, the Christian disciple is to carry out the Great Commission of the Church.

The Bible speaks about the authority Jesus Christ had on earth:

Authority over the demons:
”for with authority commandeth He even the unclean spirits, and they do obey Him.”
Mark 1: 27

Authority over nature’s elements:
“Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled, saying, ‘What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!’ “ Matthew 8: 27

Authority as Judge:
“For as the Father hath life in Himself; so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself; and hath given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man.”
John 5: 26-27

Acts 10: 42 says that Jesus Christ was ordained by God to be the judge of the quick and the dead. Also in II Timothy 4: 1 “the Lord Jesus Christ who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom.”

Authority over angels, authorities and powers:

Romans 8: 38-39 “…neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

To me, Adonai means my precious LORD. He is so dear; His loving-kindness is indescribable. His Word and love for us is like a breath of fresh air that delights the soul, so clean and pure. And He is coming soon. The Rapture of God’s Church is so close, closer than ever before believed.

Watch therefore: for we know not what hour our LORD does come.
Watch therefore and also be ready:
for in such an hour as we think not, the Son of man comes.
Look up! Our redemption draws nigh. Adonai is coming! Hallelujah!
