Quote by Marcus Aurelius

“The soul becomes dyed with the colors of its thoughts.”

                                                                  Marcus Aurelius

This could also be stated in another way: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”        as written in Proverbs 23:7 The Bible has much to say about this subject.

First is the importance of good thoughts. “The thoughts of the pure are pleasant words.”  1 These pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul, and health to the body.

God’s Word tells us to stop and to consider the wondrous works of God. 3
We are to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtue, and praise. 4

This thought-process, or brainwork, is important, especially for artists. It is truly like what Marcus Aurelius said; that thoughts on which your mind dwells dyes your very soul. And every artist knows each finished painting reveals the artist’s soul.
