Robert Henri Quote

“Great works of art should look as though they were made in joy.

Real joy is a tremendous activity. “

Robert Henri

Spontaneous combustion is what I call pure joy of painting! Spontaneous combustion is the process of catching fire through heat generated by internal chemical action. If that isn’t the joy of painting, I don’t know what is! The artist is aflame with the freedom to brush, to sponge, and to scrape the paint on the canvas. He or she is moved by allusions coming from his or her heart and soul.  That process in itself is very awesome! And what about the end product? An artwork generated from heat of real joy is produced!
